A thought from George Ford

As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”
He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” He asked his disciples’. . .
Luke 8v23 – 25a

Reflection

All throughout our lives ‘squalls’ and ‘storms’ do arise. Quite often at such times it seems as though Jesus is ‘asleep’ and not aware of our predicament. Yet we find when we call out to him, our panic calms, our thoughts start to clear, and ways to pass through and overcome start to to become apparent. May we in faith know Jesus’ presence there with us in all of life’s storms, both great and small, and lean on Him.

Prayer

Loving Lord Jesus, who calmed the raging storm and brought peace to your disciples, we pray for those whose hope and faith is floundering through temptation, difficulty, change, or anxiety. Calm their troubled spirits dear Lord with assurance of your loving care, and surround us all with the calmness of your peace, to know you are with us in all things., because you are Lord of all.
Amen.

Worship

‘My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness, I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly trust in Jesus name. Christ alone, Cornerstone, weak made strong, in the Saviour’s love. Through the storm He is Lord, Lord of all.’
(Hillsong Music, 2011)
