A thought from George Ford

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?’
(Matthew 6:26-27)

Reflection

Anxiety is a very human and often disabling problem. While an old proverb tells us a trouble shared is a trouble halved. Jesus taught not only of God’s great provision for us, but that we should also place all our anxieties into His caring hands, and make knowing Him, and His loving care for us, the centre of our priorities. (Matthew 6:25-34)

Prayer

Heavenly Father we thank and praise you for creating us and for your bountiful provision for us. May we enjoy your generous provision wisely. Help us to also put our trust in you, and place in to your hands all that makes us anxious or afraid, that following you each day we may rest the joy of your unfailing love, and the strength of your enabling peace through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
Amen.

Worship

Faithful one, so unchanging. Ageless one, You’re my rock of peace. Lord of all I depend on you. I call out to you again and again. You are my rock in times of trouble You lift me up when I fall down. All through the storm Your love is the anchor. My hope is in You alone.
(Brian Doerksen 1989)
